What we teach

Three disciplines, one method

Most students struggle with the same thing: knowing what to do at home. Where to start on a new piece, how to break down a hard passage, how to read a page of music without guessing. Every lesson here builds that skill alongside the repertoire.

Piano lessons

Classical foundation with room for the music you actually want to play. Technique, sight-reading and independent practice habits from the first lesson forward.

Harp lessons

Lever and pedal harp instruction — one of very few studios teaching harp in the Austin area. Beginners welcome; no prior music background required.

Art classes

Drawing and painting fundamentals: observation, proportion, value and color. Students build a real portfolio rather than a folder of one-off projects.

The studio

A creative studio where imagination, passion and talent come to life

Learning an instrument is a beautiful artistic experience and an investment in how the brain works. Music education strengthens memory, concentration, coordination and problem-solving. It stimulates several regions of the brain at once, which supports mental flexibility and emotional expression at every stage of life — from an eight-year-old's first scale to an adult returning to an instrument after thirty years away.

Lessons are one-on-one, in a warm and unhurried room, at a pace set by the student rather than a curriculum calendar.

Questions

Before your first lesson

What age do you start students?

Students begin at age 8 and up. There is no upper limit — adult beginners are welcome and make up a meaningful share of the studio.

Do I need my own piano or harp to start?

You need something to practice on at home. For piano, a weighted 88-key digital keyboard is a perfectly good start. For harp, lever harps can be rented locally, and the studio will help you find one before your first lesson.

Where exactly is the studio?

It is a private home studio in South Austin, convenient to Westgate, Sunset Valley, Circle C and Buda. The exact address is shared when you book.

Can lessons be taught in German or Russian?

Yes. Alena is fluent in English, German and Russian and teaches complete lessons in any of the three — useful for bilingual households and for students who want language practice alongside music.

How often should a student have lessons?

Weekly is the standard and produces the most consistent progress. Every-other-week works for adults with heavy travel schedules, though the practice framework matters even more in that case.
